Place of event: Palace das Artes
For three years the locals and tourists will have the opportunity to appraise the art of Auguste Rodin, French artist considered the father of modern sculpture. The exhibition is part of the celebrations of the Year of Brazil in France event, and takes place at Palacete das Artes with free entrance. The sculptures will remain there until 2012.
It consists on 62 matrices sculptures in plaster, that is, a type of draft, made up by the artist before the final work in marble or bronze.
The works have a fundamental importance to know the Rodin's process of creation, as it was on the plaster that the artist was more likely to transmit body movements and expressions. After the works in plaster the artist started to work with marble and bronze. The Palacete das Artes is open for this exhibition from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
