“Literatura brasileira em quadrinhos” (Brazilian Literature in comics)

The Fundação Pedro Calmon (Pedro Calmon Foundation), through the Library of Bahia, presents the "Literatura brasileira em quadrinhos" (Brazilian Literature in comics).
The exhibition brings the graphic humor, the caricatures and the comic strips, and makes part of the celebrations of the National Day of the Comic Stories (January 30th). The aim of the exhibition is to promote the particular collection of the institution and shows the importance of the comics in the culture and politics.
The library has a collection of material that portrays the history of comics through books, posters and magazines. The comics appeared in the XIX century and in Brazil, it began to gain strength in the newspapers.
