The main area of focus is on the development of the local society through protecting the environment and supporting social activities.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Villa Bahia supports and maintains several activities to improve the local society, focusing mostly on environmental protection.
The management develops educational campaigns for the locals and guests, teaching about the relevance of preserving human and natural resources. It also takes a pro-active approach in the matter by directly supporting other initiatives like the cooperative association of street cleaners, Resex (reserves of natural resources) and the Projeto Papa-Óleo (appropriate disposal of cooking oil).
Additionally, the management minimises waste of water, gas, and electricity and uses biodegradable cleaning products. The restaurant is supplied with organic products. The hotel uses recycled paper and toner cartridges.
Villa Bahia also practices sustainable tourism from a social and cultural perspective, providing benefit plans for its employees, working with partners involved in environmental welfare, fighting child prostitution and supporting the restoration and maintenance of cultural and historic traditions.
