Salvador Accommodation Hotel Solar do Carmo Sustainability

Stefano Starita e Flávia Taiano

The old mansion's story, that now houses the Hotel Solar do Carmo, is full of curiosities. The old house, from 1725, was built by a sea captain. It had already belonged to a Spanish and also served as residence for a famous samba singer from Bahia, called "Gordurinha". The hotel was inaugurated seven years ago, after a great reform. Today the house is one of the most charming hotels in the Santo Antonio Street, managed by the owners, Stefano Starita and Flavia Taiano.

Stefano is Italian and have been living in Brazil for 31 years now. Before living in Salvador, he had also lived for 21 years in Morro de São Paulo, working with tourism. In Italy, he was a fashion designer and only here in Brazil he had the first contact with the tourism area.

Flavia Taiano is a lawyer from São Paulo. Besides that, she is also an artist and her studio is located inside the hotel. She is responsible for the decor, with paintings and artwork in general. She is also responsible to create guides for guests with tips and cultural tours of the region.

Both like and know how to treat well their guests. At Solar do Carmo, you will have the opportunity to know them and enjoy all this hospitality!
